What is the Wellness Walk?
Mental illness affects at least 1 in every 3 Australians. For some this can be a short episode for others a life long challenge. Some are so severely affected by mental illness that the quality of life and opportunities are compromised. Many in our society do not understand mental illness and the associated stigma can prevent open discussion and sharing of information. The more people understand mental illness, the more compassionate our society will become and the lives of those directly affected. The Wellness Riverwalk will be the first of its kind in Queensland. The goal and the aim of the Riverwalk is the awareness of mental wellness in the community. The event was birthed out of a need to converse and fundraise toward mental health efforts.
